Eligible Foreign Companies

To qualify for the BC PNP Strategic Projects stream, a foreign company must:

 

  • Have a solid reputation and be in a healthy financial state. This safeguards the sustainability of the proposed project and protects local interests.

  • Be prepared and able to undertake international expansion into British Columbia. This ensures that the foreign corporation has the necessary resources and capacity to establish and maintain its operations in the province.

  • Make a substantial investment that will contribute significantly to the economic development of British Columbia. This investment should create new jobs, enhance the skills of British Columbia's workforce, and contribute to the development of the province's key sectors.

Foreign Company's Requirements

The foreign company participating in the BC PNP Strategic Projects stream must meet a set of specific requirements. The company must:

 

  • Make a minimum equity investment of at least $500,000 that is directed towards its operations in British Columbia. 

  • Establish a new business or purchase and expand an existing eligible business in British Columbia. 

  • create at least three new full-time equivalent jobs for Canadian citizens or permanent residents for each foreign key staff member that is proposed, up to a maximum of five key staff.

Eligible Key Staff

In order to qualify as key staff under the Strategic Projects stream of the BC PNP, individuals must meet a set of specific requirements. These include:

  1. Current senior employment: The individual must be a current senior employee of the foreign corporation seeking to establish operations in British Columbia.

  2. Essential qualifications and experience: The employee must possess the necessary qualifications and experience that are vital for establishing and operating the business in British Columbia.

  3. Executive or senior managerial position, or specialized knowledge: The individual is either appointed to an executive or senior managerial role, or possesses specialized knowledge that is crucial to the proposed B.C. operation.

  4. Permanent full-time employment in BC: The employee will be working in a full-time, permanent capacity at the British Columbia operation.

  5. Wage commensurate with expertise: The individual is offered a wage that is in line with their expertise, and consistent with industry standards and the corporation's compensation structures.
