RURAL & NORTHERN IMMIGRATION

PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM PATHWAY TO CANADA

ADVANTAGE OF RNIP

The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot is a community-driven program that aims to spread the benefits of economic immigration to smaller communities in Canada.

Under this pilot program, designated communities can recruit skilled foreign workers who want to work and live in the participating communities.

This initiative augments smaller communities' economies while also providing immigrants with unique opportunities for personal and professional growth.

If you’re unsure of how to begin your immigration journey, our team offers a consultation service where we can evaluate your unique circumstances and recommend the most suitable immigration options for you. Our focus on personalized solutions ensures that every client receives the highest level of service and support throughout their immigration journey.

  • An LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) is usually required to ensure that foreign workers do not take jobs that could be filled by Canadians. However, under RNIP, candidates with a valid job offer are exempted from this requirement, making the process more straightforward and hassle-free.

  • Once nominated by the RNIP, you can use this as a pathway to apply for permanent residency, which allows you to settle and work permanently in one of the participating communities.

  • The RNIP also grants additional points in the Express Entry system. Being a part of the RNIP gives candidates extra points, thus enhancing their chances of securing permanent residence.

  • Should you have submitted an application for permanent residency through the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot, you might also qualify for a work permit valid for one year. This permit allows you to be employed while your application for permanent residency is under review

  • You have the options for various categories of National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. This means that individuals with different skill sets and occupations can apply for the program, making it accessible to a wider range of potential immigrants.

How does the Rural & Northern Immigration Pilot works?

The RNIP works by partnering with designated communities that have identified specific labour shortages and are interested in attracting skilled foreign workers to fill those gaps.

These designated communities are located in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, and the three territories (Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut).

Each community has its own set of eligibility criteria and application process, which must be met by potential candidates in order to be considered for the program.

Work Permit for Your Spouse or Common-Law Partner

Your spouse or common-law partner has the opportunity to apply for a general work permit concurrently with your application for a 1-year work permit.

However, their permit will restrict them to employment within the same community as yours.

Participating Communities

Here is the list of the participating communities:

  • North Bay, ON

  • Sudbury, ON

  • Timmins, ON

  • Sault Ste. Marie, ON

  • Thunder Bay, ON

  • Brandon, ON

  • Altona/Rhineland, MB

  • Moose Jaw, SK

  • Claresholm, AB

  • Vernon, BC

  • West Kootenay (Trail, Castlegar, Rossland, Nelson), BC

What to expect from these participating communities?

The participating communities focus on genuine employment opportunities. This ensures that newcomers have a real opportunity for meaningful employment within the community.

Moreover, community-driven programs are designed with long-term settlement in mind. This means that candidates who are selected for permanent residence through these programs should have a genuine intention of staying in the community for the foreseeable future

Other than that, they connect newcomers with settlement services and mentoring opportunities within the community. This can help ease the transition and provide support for newcomers as they settle into their new home.
